.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 127 PM CDT Sat Jul 4 2026
- Moderate risk of heat-related impacts into next week, with peak
heat indices between 100-110 degF. Heat safety should continued
to be practiced over the next several days.
- Low chances of daily isolated showers and thunderstorms over the
Coastal Plains.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 127 PM CDT Sat Jul 4 2026
Mid-level ridging will gradually build in from the west through the
holiday weekend as the ridge over the eastern CONUS erodes. This
pattern will continue to allow for predominately rain-free
conditions and very warm temperatures. Despite the drier
environment, abundant low-level moisture and daytime heating will
still support low chances (<15%) for isolated showers and a
thunderstorm or two along the afternoon sea breeze across the
Coastal Plains.
Temperatures will be near normal through the forecast period with
high temperatures generally in the 90s and isolated triple digit
temperatures across the western Brush Country. This combined with
persistent Gulf moisture, will produce afternoon heat index values
between 100-110 degF each day. While widespread Heat Advisory
criteria are not anticipated at this time, portions of the region
could briefly approach advisory thresholds during the hottest part
of the afternoon. Those planning outdoor activities for the holiday
weekend or spending extended periods outside next week should
practice heat safety by staying well hydrated, taking frequent
breaks in shaded or air conditioned areas, and limiting strenuous
activity during peak heating hours.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 127 PM CDT Sat Jul 4 2026
VFR conditions are expected to prevail through much of this TAF
period. Brief reductions in VSBY are also a possibility across our
two most popular trouble spots (ALI/VCT) around sunrise on Sunday.
Isolated showers, perhaps a thunderstorm or two, will remain
possible this afternoon and again on Sunday. The best chances for
precipitation will remain across our easternmost terminals
(ALI/CRP/VCT) where moisture is greatest, but overall chances are on
the low side (<15%). Winds will continue to be out of the south-
southeast at 10-15 knots through the rest of the afternoon and early
evening, with occasional gusts up to 20 knots. Winds drop to 10
knots or less after sunset.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 127 PM CDT Sat Jul 4 2026
Gentle to moderate south-southeasterly winds (BF 3-4) will persist
into at least midweek. Low daily rain chances will also continue
into early in the week.
